Point in Time (PIT) Count
The PIT Count is a nationwide homeless count which takes place every January. The purpose of the PIT Count is to assess the current need, locate any new or existing areas, and to broadly capture where we're at in this given point in time. During this day, we go out in teams (street outreach workers, community members, other organizations/advocates that work with people experiencing homelessness) and canvas all across Long Island and survey people experiencing homelessness that we come across by. Some of the questions asked on the survey pertain to consent, demographics, the individuals' living situation, any special needs, and income description.
