Long Island Cares’ MORE programs provides information, referral assistance and emergency food to people in user-friendly locations such as libraries, parks and shopping centers.

Each week Branches Long Island packs and distributes their blessing boxes filled with Food, Diapers, Formula, Toiletries and much more. Emergency bags are available for those that walk in and are on need of EMERGENCY FOOD to grab. These bags will provide basic food items and instructions on how to submit a request for a blessing box.

Anyone in need of help can come to a Community Solidarity Food Share and get most, if not all, of the groceries they need for the week. They also share clothing, books, toys, school supplies, and other necessities. Food shares are located in Hempstead, Huntington, Farmingville, and Wyandanch.

Jericho Cares' mission is to assist families in need.  They provide clothes, celebrate birthdays and holidays, and help with food insecurities and other basic supplies.

This faith-based organization hosts food outreaches outdoors for an hour, usually around noon. Lighthouse Mission box trucks go out stocked with emergency food, clothes & other necessities. Outreaches take place in Coram, Ronkonkoma, Central Islip, Rocky Point, Shirley, Port Jefferson Station, Riverhead, Centereach, Patchogue, and Bellport.

The INN addresses issues of hunger and homelessness on Long Island. The Mary Brennan INN hosts a soup kitchen or brown bag lunch program depending on COVID-19 restrictions. Other services are available at the Center for Transformational Change on site.

The Boutique

Long Island Coalition for the Homeless provides a special Distribution Center stocked clothes and other essential items. These clothing options can range from casual to business attire. All items are free! Clothing is available in all sizes: infant through adult and everything in between. Due to COVID-19, all requests must be submitted through online referrals.

The Center for Transformative Change (CTC) is located immediately adjacent to the Mary Brennan INN soup kitchen in Hempstead. CTC serves as a Resource Center to assist guests of the soup kitchen to improve their life circumstances and/or become self-sufficient. The facility also houses a Clothing Boutique, where guests can acquire free clothing, including business attire for interviews or a new job, and housewares.
