DSS One-Shot

Both counties offer one-time financial assistance to secure a new unit to prevent homelessness. On a case by case basis, the county may also be able to pay a relative a small rent supplement if that relative is able to take that person into their home, but it creates a financial burden to add expenses such as utilities.

The Long Island Continuum of Care is designated by the Department of Housing and Urban Development to oversee the regional strategy for ending homelessness. The Continuum of Care envisions a community in which all members have access to safe, decent, and appropriate housing options.
