WE NEED LANDLORDS!

The Long Island Coalition for the Homeless is reaching out to you because we need landlords to rent to households in Suffolk County and Nassau County. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, like many others, we need help during this housing crisis. We are currently working with a large number of households that have been displaced and need stable housing.

Long Island Coalition for the Homeless in partnership with New York State Homes and Community Renewal department, is issuing secure Emergency Housing Vouchers (EHV) for families and individuals most impacted by COVID-19 to stabilize them in permanent housing.

These vouchers are being issued on an emergency need bases and will be able to pay FMR 110% as well there are monetary incentives for working with LICH client:

  • Security deposit to be paid by NY State directly to the landlord(s)

  • Sign on bonus of $1,000 per tenant at the time of lease signing

  • Repair Fund up to $1,000 to reimburse the landlord for repairs necessary to ensure the health and safety of the tenant’s expenses will be approved by the HRC inspector or their designated agent.

  • Landlord Guarantee should the landlord be forced to evict the tenant for Non-payment of the tenants share of the rent HCR will reimburse the landlord for loses accrued prior to the date of eviction.

In addition to the incentive above most participants receiving a housing voucher will have case managers who are in the tenant's homes and can ensure good maintenance of the property and assist tenants when appropriate to contact the landlord.
